In 2000, Haridopolos entered the political arena by winning an open seat in the Florida House of Representatives. He achieved this by securing a significant victory in a six-way Republican primary, where he garnered over 30 percent of the vote. He subsequently won the general election with a commanding 65 percent. Following this success, he continued to build on his political career, winning the 2002 Republican primary with over 82 percent of the vote and re-election to the Florida House with 79 percent in the general election.
