However, Muse chose to stay behind, living with his older brother and later navigating a series of foster homes—eleven in total—before finding stability with United Methodist pastor George Stansbury.

Muse's early education was tumultuous, as he faced expulsion from three different school systems, including Pimlico Junior High School, where he was involved in a physical altercation.
