Chip Curry

Glenn "Chip" Curry is an American politician affiliated with the Democratic Party, currently serving as a member of the Maine State Senate representing District 11. He has been in office since 2020, following his election to fill the seat vacated by Erin Herbig. In addition to his legislative role, Curry works as the student services coordinator at the University of Maine at Augusta's Rockland center, where he has been involved in education and youth development for several years.

Early life and career

Chip Curry's professional journey in education and youth development began in 1992. He pursued higher education at Miami University, where he earned a Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel Services in 1994. Shortly after completing his studies, he relocated to Waldo County, Maine, where he began his career in academia. His early roles included serving as an academic advisor and student activities coordinator at Unity College. In March 2020, Curry announced his candidacy for the Senate District 11 seat, which was being vacated by Erin Herbig, who had accepted a position as the city manager of Belfast. Curry successfully navigated the Democratic primary, defeating two opponents through a ranked-choice voting process. He then faced Republican candidate Duncan Milne in the general election, where he emerged victorious with a 54% to 46% margin.

Since taking office, Curry has been active in the Maine Senate, where he serves on the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. Additionally, he holds the position of chair of the Joint Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business.
