Kunesh-Podein completed her secondary education at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She pursued higher education at St. Catherine University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education in 1995. Later, she attended St. Cloud State University, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in information media in 2010.
