Omar Fateh is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 62, which encompasses parts of south Minneapolis in Hennepin County. A member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), he is notable for being the first Somali American and Muslim to hold a seat in the Minnesota Senate. Early life and career

Omar Fateh was born on April 19, 1990, in Washington, D.C., to parents who immigrated to the United States from Somalia. Following high school, he pursued higher education at George Mason University, where he earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
