Jay Webber

James K. "Jay" Webber is an American lawyer and politician affiliated with the Republican Party, currently serving as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly. He represents the 26th legislative district, having been first elected to the Assembly in 2007. Early life and career

Jay Webber was born on February 29, 1972, in Teaneck, New Jersey. He grew up in Clifton, where he attended Saint Joseph Regional High School. His academic journey continued at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. During his time at Johns Hopkins, Webber distinguished himself academically, being inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, which recognizes excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. In addition to his academic achievements, he was also recognized as a Second Team All-American in baseball, showcasing his athletic abilities alongside his academic pursuits.

Following his undergraduate education, Webber began his professional career in public service. He worked as a Budget Staffer and District Director for Congressman William J. Martini. This role provided him with firsthand experience in legislative processes and constituent services, which would later inform his own political career. After his tenure in Congress, Webber joined the Manhattan Institute, a think tank focused on public policy research, where he further developed his understanding of political and economic issues.

Webber pursued a legal education at Harvard Law School, earning his Juris Doctor degree. Legislative service

In 2007, following Martin's retirement and the decision of incumbent Assemblyman Joseph Pennacchio to seek Martin's Senate seat, Webber entered the Republican primary for Pennacchio's Assembly seat. In a competitive primary, he secured a place in the general election by finishing second, receiving a significant number of votes that demonstrated his appeal among Republican voters.
