Mike Testa

Michael L. Testa Jr. is an American politician and lawyer currently serving as a member of the New Jersey State Senate, representing the 1st Legislative District. A member of the Republican Party, Testa was elected to the Senate in a special election held on November 5, 2019, to complete the term of Jeff Van Drew, who had vacated the seat after winning a position in the United States House of Representatives. Early life and career

Mike Testa was born on May 1, 1976, in Vineland, New Jersey. His family background reflects a diverse heritage; he is the great-grandson of Italian immigrants on his father's side, while his mother is a Polish Jew whose parents met in a concentration camp during World War II. Testa pursued higher education at Villanova University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Juris Doctor degree. He furthered his legal education by obtaining a Master of Laws degree from Temple University. He was elected chair of the Cumberland County Republican Party on July 19, 2014, after having served as vice chairman for three years. His leadership roles extended to community organizations as well; he was a member of the Vineland Downtown Improvement District/Main Street Vineland from 2006 to 2008 and served as chairman of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties. Testa also held the position of board president for the Vineland Regional Dance.
