Early life and career

Patrick Testin was born on June 9, 1988, in Madison, Wisconsin. He spent his formative years in Marinette, where he graduated from Marinette High School in 2006. Following high school, Testin pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 2011, a field of study that would later inform his political aspirations and legislative work.

During his time at the university, Testin became actively engaged in political activities, particularly with the Republican Party of Wisconsin. His involvement included serving as a deputy field director for Sean Duffy's congressional campaign, which was successful. This role provided him with valuable experience in campaign strategy and grassroots mobilization. Shortly thereafter, he took on the position of field director for Republican candidate Kim Simac during the 2011 Wisconsin Senate recall elections, further solidifying his commitment to political service and the Republican Party.

After completing his education, Testin transitioned into the workforce, where he held various positions that contributed to his professional development. From 2011 to 2014, he worked as a store manager for a mattress retailer, gaining experience in business management and customer relations. In 2014, he shifted his career focus to sales, becoming a sales representative for M Shiraz Wines of Wisconsin. This role allowed him to hone his skills in sales and marketing while maintaining a connection to the local economy.

Testin's early political ambitions became evident when he made his first bid for elected office in 2012. He ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly in the open 71st Assembly district, which encompasses areas including Stevens Point and Plover, as well as parts of Portage County. Despite his efforts, he was not successful in this initial attempt, losing to fellow first-time candidate Katrina Shankland, who garnered a significant majority of the votes. This experience, however, did not deter him from pursuing a future in politics.

Legislative service

In 2016, Patrick Testin made a significant return to the political arena by running for the Wisconsin State Senate. He challenged the incumbent State Senator Julie Lassa, who had held the position for 13 years. In a competitive election, Testin emerged victorious, securing 52% of the vote.
