Henry Neal was an American lawyer and politician who served as a U.S. Representative for Ohio's 11th congressional district from 1877 to 1883. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected to three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives. Henry Neal was born on August 25, 1828, in Gallipolis, Ohio. He received his early education in the common schools of the area, which laid the foundation for his future academic pursuits. After completing his studies, Neal began to study law and was admitted to the bar around 1851. His early career included a notable position as the prosecuting attorney for Lawrence County, which he held around the same time he began his law practice.
